Development of Life Skills

Development of Life Skills

Disability can cause many challenges, especially when it comes to performing daily tasks, but we’re here to empower you and arm you with all the necessary skills to perform your day-to-day tasks and achieve your life goals. Firstly, we assess your current life skills, determine areas that require improvement, and then set goals collaboratively according to your aspirations and needs. We focus on improving:

Daily Living Skills

Provide assistance in personal care such as grooming, dressing, etc. Teach cooking and preparing meals and help you develop skills to perform household chores and maintain a clean space.

Communication Skills

Help you improve your verbal and non-verbal skills, and help use alternative communication methods when required.

Social Skills

Provide various opportunities to interact socially, learn social skills, and encourage engagement in different group activities.

Financial Management

We educate you on money management and budgeting, help you develop financial literacy, and teach you the importance of responsible spending.

Health and Well-being

Help you work on a healthy lifestyle, including exercise and nutritious meal intake, and encourage self-care practices.

Education and Employment

We support individuals in pursuing their education and provide platforms to explore employment opportunities.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making

We help develop problem-solving and decision-making skills and encourage individuals to identify and solve problems independently through different activities.

Travel Training, Recreation and Hobbies

Our team helps individuals learn how to travel independently by using both public and private transportation so that they can move from one place to another safely and seamlessly. We also encourage them to cultivate new hobbies and support them to participate in recreational activities and clubs.

At Southside Disability Services, we make sure that every individual is able to meet the demands of life, no matter their disability.
